Li Dazhao’s Former Residences
Located at 24 Wenhua Hutong in Xicheng District, this was the Beijing residence of Li Dazhao from 1920 to 1922.
Li Dazhao (1889-1927) was a native of Leting County in Hebei Province. He was one of the founders of Chese Communist Party. Since 1918, he taught as a professor and also worked as the curator of the library at Peking University. While living here, he established the secret Society of Marxism together with Deng Zhongxia and Chen Duxiu and not long after this, the Beijing Commu- nist Group. In 1927 he was killed by a warlord in Beijing.
