Ouyang Yuqian (1889-1962), originally called Ouyang Liyuan, was a native of Liuyang in Hunan Province. He was a renowned performer, playwright, theater educator and one of the founders of Chinese modern drama. After 1949, he was appointed president of the Central Drama College.
