Prince Li’s Residences

Located on the west side of Xihuangchenggen Nanjie, or the eastern end of Dajiangfang Hutong in Xicheng District, this was the residence of Daishan, one the Eight Iron-Hamlet Princes in the early years of the Qing Dynasty and 2nd son of Nurhachi of the Qing Dynasty.

Daishan was conferred the title of Prince Heshuoli in 1636, the first year of Chongde’s reign. His grandson Jieshu inherited the rank of Prince Li in 1659, the 16th year of Emperor Shunzhi’s reign, and changed the title to Prince Kang.

This residence was built away from the original site by Jieshu after inheriting the title, thus it was also called Prince Kang’s Residence.
